Link Logistics recently participated for the first time in Climate Week NYC, the largest annual climate event of its kind with more than 600 climate-focused events happening across the city and 100,000 attendees expected in total.
Link Logistics CEO Luke J. Petherbridge spoke on a panel with representatives from the Climate Group, U.S. Green Building Council and a local government in South Africa about driving energy efficiency for the built environment and how sustainable buildings are key to social well-being.
“Fast forward, a lot of the warehouse environment will be electrified, from electrified truck fleets to automation, and demand for power is going to increase,” Petherbridge said during the September 23 panel. “Our scale provides us with an opportunity to use data and insights to deliver sustainability solutions that are above and beyond, like our energy management program, Energy Solutions. The program helps our customers reduce and offset their energy use while also making economic sense for their operations.”
Over the two days following Petherbridge’s panel appearance, Link Logistics held its second annual Energy & Sustainability Summit as an official Climate Week NYC event. Co-led by Link Logistics’ Sustainability and Customer Solutions teams, the closed-door summit consisted of two half-day programs with participation from 20 customers and 15 speakers, including senior representatives from the White House Climate Policy Office, Blackstone, CBRE and several other organizations. The summit serves as a forum for Link Logistics and its partners to discuss opportunities to meet mutual sustainability challenges together through the power of dialogue and innovation.
In looking at the climate journey ahead, Petherbridge summed up the importance of collaboration as he closed out his panel: “No one person has all the answers. It’s about partnership – partnering with our customers, partnering with government organizations, partnering with organizations like the U.S. Green Building Council – and continuing to push the ball forward.”
